Fraud in the Card Not Present (CNP) arena has increased year on year over the past 5 years. In 2006, APACS stated that there was a significant 16% increase in CNP fraud alone. With the launch of Verified by Visa and MasterCard Secure Code, plus Chip and PIN in the Cardholder Present environment, fraud will decrease, leaving the traditional Mail Order/Telephone Order merchants at greater risk of exposure.

We know that chargebacks and associated costs are a major concern to all merchants, as well as those incurred through lost goods and processing.

Streamline’s responsibility is to protect its merchants from potential fraud increases in the industry, hence Streamline Fraud Screening Service.

How does it work?

Fraud Screening forms part of the transaction authorisation flow, prior to the bank authorisation. Information supplied by the merchant and Streamline is combined using a number of sophisticated technologies. This enables an 'accept', 'deny' or 'challenge' response to be given within less than 1 second to the normal authorisation process.

Types of service

  • Bespoke service – a fully integrated, bespoke product aimed at high volume merchants. Requires 100% transactions screening which forms part of the authorisation flow. The bespoke service is accessed via an Application Programme Interface (API).
  • Sector service – bespoke per merchant sector, requires 100% transaction screening, which forms part of the authorisation flow. The sector service is accessed via the merchants' own internet web browser.
