WorldPay Chief Executive Officer, Ron Kalifa, has been named the ‘Industry Personality of the Year’ at the Cards & Payments Awards

WorldPay Chief Executive Officer, Ron Kalifa, has been named the ‘Industry Personality of the Year’ at the 2011 Cards & Payments Awards, held in London at Grosvenor House on the 3rd February. The award is presented in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the advancement and success of the card and payments industry.  

Ron received the award in recognition of his leadership of WorldPay,, Europe’s number one acquirer, for the past seven years. The award also recognised his contribution to the acquiring industry through his work with key merchant representative bodies and various card acquiring schemes to influence developments for the benefit of the industry and merchants.

WorldPay, which includes the UK face-to-face business Streamline, has gone from strength to strength. It currently processes nearly 1 in every 2 transactions in the UK, supporting a large proportion of the high street and many of the world’s major airlines. WorldPay has also driven a number of innovations including recently contactless technology and the acceptance of China Union Pay cards in the UK.

WorldPay has also developed a global ecommerce product supported by an acquiring capability which can process in 113 currencies. WorldPay’s ecommerce products, which include Business Gateway aimed at SMEs, and Corporate Gateway and High Capacity Gateway aimed at larger corporates, support nearly 10% of the world’s ecommerce.
